Forgive the lack of frequent updates as it my fault. Yes, the wife. I wanted to try to make sure everyone keeps living and doing what you must do, and, what you want to be doing – and not letting the “crisis win” by absorbing us totally. Therefore, milestone updates are the approach underway.

Milestone No. 1: Bill finishes chemotherapy and radiation – Round 1 and results are in as of December 9, 2016

Results: Bill has had a mixed, but a positive response, to therapy from the MRI review and clinically he is “stable” and doing well given the battle. Yes indeed, Dr. Sahijdak’s masterful planning approach, and ever so careful application of medical skills, have kept Bill’s glioblastoma at bay while preserving Bill’s healthy tissue. Combined with Dr. Beekman’s management of his chemotherapy, Bill’s results include shrinkage of several of the large tumors without appearance of “new” tumors. Good news as this is an insidious cancer and his presentation is challenging. He will start Round 2 of chemotherapy and an FDA approved approach using low dose electrical tranducers with a cap he will use many hours of the night/day. This next phase is hoped to continue to damage the “bad tumor cells” and also stop those cells from growing (interfere with mitosis). The prayers have been working as throughout this course Bill has been pain free, without major side affects and able to visit and partake in many activities just needing plenty of rest and TLC provided by so many and most adeptly delivered daily by Eric, siblings, family and dear friends.

While fully cognizant of the realities of glioblastoma, our family, and friends, have all been very busy keeping Bill in the “living mode”. He has been very active – and not just killing time because that – is the commodity he, and we, cannot take take for granted or waste.
