Bill was feeling pretty good during July and August, especially when golfing with Eric and visiting in California with Owen, Kristina and his adorable granddaughter. Then came September and the celebration of a 40th wedding anniversary with wife Cecilia and return to the business of IHA and health care. On top of usual monumental duties, Bill also tackled his philanthropy role for St. Joe and his extra-curricular activity of Sept. seasonal tennis start up. So the last few weeks he was very tired but it didn’t keep him from getting done what needed to be completed.

Fast forward. On October 7th we ended up in the ER as our IHA Doc knew he needed more attention. Roughly seven hours later we heard test results that propelled life into a perfect storm.

It was quickly determined that Bill needed a sensitive surgical diagnostic procedure that followed  without a hitch. The subsequent news, while tumultuous in every way, gives rise to treatment direction from our expert IHA, St.  Joe’s and even shared U of M medical staff.

Remarkable medicine … remarkable care are not simply words. All around us is the proof. Bill’s story make these echoed words come to life.

From discovery to recovery, teams of the most excellent physicians, clinicians and support staff  nailed down assessments within hours such that not even one week later – we are already into treatment plans. This in itself nothing short of a miracle.

We humbly thank each and every one of you for rising to the challenges Bill’s case presents. You have surpassed any quality care bar ever developed. Witnessing the application of the finest medical interventions executed seamlessly in front and behind the scenes with such compassion can never be forgotten.

The outpouring of support from colleagues, co-workers, family and friends had given our family the nourishment to stand strong to support.

Thank you for being Bill’s career and life long friends in a community like no other – for providing the care and comfort that he and our family need at this crossroad that has almost instantly appeared. So much appreciation …
